.home sweet home.

my mommy's home!..

for those who're out of the loop, my mommy went for a business / holiday trip down to india. she went first-class armed with many wet baby wipes, clean water, an expectation of the worst, and a homosexually oriented best friend who's along just for kicks. (the man's a shopping fanatic, and as brand-conscious and appearance-frenzic as every stereotyper makes out gay men to be)... and btw, he has more dignity and grace than a certain gay guy i know who bugs the 2cents out of me has in his little toenail, ..

anyway, she's back and the picture that she painted for us on the lifestyle of india in its truest form is not a pretty picture. full of desolaton, lost hope, and poverty.. it takes dirty to a new level. from the eyes of my mom, i saw india as a place where the rich are extremely rich (and i'm talking rich with two bodyguards, leather suitcases, Armani tailored suits, silk ties.. the works), and the poor are sickeningly poor (like live-beside-a-dumpster poor, and that is if the rest of the roadside curb is filled head-to-toe with a tangle of grimy legs and hands belonging to families too poor to afford anything other than cold hard road).. sigh.

i'm grateful to be where i am right now. to be the person who i am right now. to have the loving, hardworking parents that i have. to have all the opportunities in the world open to me right now. i can be whoever i want to be, i just sorta need reminding every now and again..

on lighter things in life, saturday saw billie, sulin and i waking an an ungodly hour of the day (no earlier than 8), to run around in an enclosed area, in a futile attempt to kick a rubber (or issit plastic?) ball into the back of a rather ridiculously small goal. but our team, which consisted of only 4 people, due to poor recruiting skills, had to "borrow" players from the other team. ah well, its all in the spirit of sport. so, needless to say Pillar kicked ass but only got second placing..

what'm i saying? we're lucky to have scored any goals at all!.. before the game start, i rather belatedly realised that i had NO CLUE of the rules of this game whatsoever, other than the fact that you have to KICK the ball. but apparently all the other girls had about my knowledge level of futsal,.. so what-the-heck.. anyway, all goals need to be creditted to su lin, who was our "star player" of the day (to be read with sarcastic hand gesture) . hehe.. just kidding.. anyway, special note to Rachel for saving our asses at the finals. well, my rather embarassing bout at goalkeeping brought me home with a prize in shape of a beautiful multi-hued bruise in purple, blue, green, black and yellow. i swear, it changes color with the temperature. its a mood-bruise.

so, anyway, my mom's dragging my ass to the gym tomorrow morning at the ungodly hour of 8:30am.. my mom's been experiencing gym-withdrawal symptoms. and she's bringing me down with her. argh. it must be illegal to wake up before 10 during college holidays somewhere in the world. i'm moving house, just as soon as i figure out which country is run by an government consisting of people under 50years.
